MY THOUGHTS OF US AS A PEOPLE WHILE IN PRISON 9YRS AGO…

Here I am, 5am sitting in a prison cell, contemplating the era that I was born in that changed the direction of the Africans in America, and America in general, but my point is addressed to my people Black people as we are the ones that continue to be the most effected and in the direst straits.

The Emancipation Proclamation was put into place in 1863 to so call “free the slaves”. This immediately rustled the feathers of the American eagle and did not sit well with the powers that be.

Instantly, our ancestors were free to take advantage of our God given rights that were denied to them since they had been snatched away from their homelands. It didn’t take long for America to implement stratagems that would hinder us in our moral and social development.

Since 1864 to date, 2016, it has been approximately 153 years since we’ve been allowed to openly pursue an education or read a book in public without getting lynched, burned, or tarred and feathered. But these milestones of achievements that our ancestors died for us to have; we barely take advantage of today.

Opening a book that has some historical substance or uplifting significance has become a thing of the past. Seeking to become educated or to become an avid reader has now become ammo for our young children to be targets of bullying or for adults to be looked at as “lames” or “squares” instead of these characteristics being sought after or admired as they should.

There is an adage that America can only be too happy to have coined and that’s “If you want to hide some something from a Nigger, put it in a book”.

So sad, but IT IS so true, that we would look anywhere or go to anyone else before we would pick up a book and seek the information, we need for ourselves. Now this trend of us haphazardly taking other people's information to heart and becoming blind followers without researching for ourselves to confirm what we have heard sadly continues today.

It seems as if the only thing that concerns us or matters is anything that catches other people’s attention!

We have no sense of modesty and spend beyond our means. Mostly to be seen or heard by anyone who is looking or listening. We desperately seek materialistic things as jewelry, cars, labels, the list goes on.

While other races save and build wealth, looking and planning for the future, just as our ancestors did! They planned and died for us to be able to do the things that we take for granted today! We have become comfortable in our own ignorance and stagnant in our upliftment as a people.

We hate to help one another with anything and are so busy trying to SHIT ON ONE ANOTHER! And for what?

Attention from anyone. But we don’t seek attention through things that would make our ancestors proud, seeking education, reading, and studying subjects that can aide in the upliftment of our people and the world as a whole.

We are so powerful! We dominate music, clothing, sports, and the entertainment industries. But it’s all in a degrading and demoralizing way, mostly towards our own people, instead of using these avenues to uplift, encourage and send positive messages to our people.

We are a nation of people that stands for NOTHING and falls for anything. We have no thorough knowledge of our own history and we don’t seek it. We are so content with watching baseless reality shows of other people’s lives without trying to improve the reality of our own.

We base our lives off the music we listen to and the television we watch. We celebrate fruitless paganist holidays and continue to teach our children the same all while blatantly lying to them to get them to believe in this FOOLISHNESS!

Instead of teaching them how great and powerful and rich their history is, so they can have something to be truly inspired and proud of, and also something for them to live up to and aspire towards greatness!

Yet, we are tickled and amused at them singing an ignorant song to our friends, but not at all ashamed they don’t know their alphabets!

Because we as parents don’t read to our children. HELL, we don’t even read ourselves. And if we do, it’s merely for entertainment, nothing of value in it except maybe a few words we’re unfamiliar with, unless it’s Sunday and we open our Bibles for 15 minutes because the pastor said so.

Then we are back to our vulgar behavior that our children see and consider to be natural, which they will continue to propagate in their own lives. It’s time for this trend to end and there’s no better time than the present.

As a father myself, I plan on doing everything in my power and going beyond my means to keep my children from the continuance of a lot of this ignorance that goes on today! But in order for me to do that, I have to lead by example so they can see me practice what I preach and therefore take me seriously when I expect something of them. TO BE CONTINUED….
